Base Plate Brackets
Each and every Blue Ox Tow Bar Base Plate is designed specifically to fit the vehicle it was made for. The brackets are designed to limit drilling and eliminate welding to your Dinghy Flat-4-Down Tow Vehicle. This makes for a super easy and safe connection to your RV with the towbar baseplates two-point tabs that connect individually to a BlueOx Tow Bar with telescoping arms. The Tow Bar Base Plate Removable Tabs make the bracket all but disappear with a simple push-in and twist of the tab when not towing. It's like taking off your work clothes for a night out on the town!

Unique State Road Laws That RVers Should KnowHere are five reasons why you need supplemental brakes...1. SafetySupplemental brakes...
• ...take the load off the motorhome so that both
vehicles brake in tandem, taking significantly less
time and distance to come to a controlled stop.
• ...relieve stress on the tow bar and the mount-
ing brackets — a panic stop without supplemental
brakes is a leading cause of tow system failure.
• ...reduce the chance of catastrophic brake failure
at the motorhome, as a result of sustained braking.
2. It’s required
According to the American Automobile Association,
most states, plus many Canadian provinces,
now require supplemental brakes if the towed weight
exceeds 3,000 pounds (see reverse).
3. Chassis warranty
Workhorse/Chevrolet will void your chassis war-
ranty if you tow more than 1,000 pounds without
supplemental brakes; Ford stipulates 1,500 pounds.
4. Wear and tear
Because they aren’t braking for two vehicles, your
motorhome brakes last longer.
5. It just makes good sense
Every other trailer on the road today — a fifth
wheel, travel trailer, boat trailer or a semi-trailer
— has its own braking system. When you’re towing
two or three extra tons, shouldn’t you have a supple-
mental braking system to stop it?

What do I need in order to Flat 4 Down Dinghy tow my 2014-18 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon behind my Motorhome RV?
Answer:
You will need three main connection components to Flat 4
Down Dinghy Tow your Jeep Wrangler Rubicon behind your RV, and due to the
weight of your tow vehicle, also I Supplemental RV Brake System.
- First, you will need a vehicle specific Blue Ox Tow Bar Base
Plate. In your case the base Plate is a
Blue Ox part number BX1136
- Next, you will need a Blue Ox Tow Bar, and unless you are
transporting RVs as a profession, RVCampChamp.com always recommends a Motorhome
Mounted Tow Bar. We always recommend the
RV Hitch Mounted units because it make connection a “One Man Job”. Just pull up your Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
within about three feet of the Motorhome Mounted Tow Bar, release the
telescoping independent arms, align the clevises, and pin them. All that’s left is to pull the RV forward and
let the self-locking Tow Bar Arms lock into place, connect the electric cable
and drive down the road!

- Last, but not least, you will need tail light wiring. For the 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Blue Ox
recommends the BX8869 Bulb & Socket Tail Light Wiring Kit, but you could
also use the BX8848 Diode Tail Light Wiring Kit. Both have their pluses and minuses and both
are universal tail light wire kits that work on a variety of vehicles. If you ever move into a 2013 Jeep Wrangler,
please note that the BX8869 Tail Light Wiring Kit does not work with the newer
tail light assemblies, you must use a BX8848 on the 2013 and 2014 Jeep
Wranglers. Keep in mind that tail light
kits do not include the coiled cable that runs between the RV and the Dinghy
Tow Vehicle, so you’ll also need a Blue Ox BX88206 - 7 to 6 Coiled Cable.
- This is optional, but it is required by law in most USA
States and Canadian Provinces. Many
fight the brake for what ever reason, but we think that is a major
mistake. Forget the law, you are adding
4,000 extra pounds to stop on an already heavy RV. Yep, it’s going to double your initial set-up
budget, but it’s cheap based on the protection it adds. We recommend looking at the following brakes:
